I have been struggling to lose weight for almost two years. I gave birth to my third child two years ago, before that I had my daughter a year and a half before that. The two c-sections left a huge patch of fat around my abdomen so I now look five months pregnant years later. I have struggled with my weight since I was about ten years old. My family would feed us a lot of junk food, soda and prepared foods that were microwaveable. I had no idea about nutrition until I was in college because I was home schooled for high school.
This is my story thus far about what I'm doing to lose weight. Hopefully, my story can help other women like me be able to achieve some success and maybe a bit of comfort through my own experiences. I have had three kids in over eight years of marriage. I got married at 20 and weighed 97 pounds and at the beginning of my journey, I weighed 165 pounds. Here is what I am doing to lose weight.
My Visit to a Nutritionist
I went to see a nutritionist after talking to my doctor. I do not eat that much food because I am a stay at home mom and am always on the go. I told him that I walk everywhere and even push a heavy double stroller to and from my son's school each day. He referred me to a nutritionist. I met with her and she helped me to come up with a diet plan that would allow me to focus more on fruits and vegetables. I had always eaten a lot of salads but I never felt full. My nutritionist had me eliminate salt from my diet and added lean turkey and proteins so that my salads could be more sustaining to me.
How I Approach Exercise
I am a procrastinator sometimes in terms of my exercise regimen. I have found that it is hard to avoid making excuses when you have kids. I want to lose weight but I always find that if I do not exercise early in the morning that I will never get it done. I exercise before my kids wake up. I have to be very quiet and leave my room because for some reason my kids have supersonic hearing and any time I go anywhere, they are sure to follow. I exercise in my living room with my I-pod in my ears. I then jump rope, lift my five pound dumb bells and go for a two mile run. This is also why I like the venus factor because it lets me workout at home, which is very convenient for me.
I like to keep things simple but also challenge myself so that my body does not become complacent. I try to also make things fun. I will dance and even do jumping jacks in the shower after I finish exercising. My tips for women are the following: lose weight for yourself not anyone else, do not make weight loss a burden to yourself or you will fail and always try to be creative with your diet and exercise routines. After six months, I have lost 25 pounds. I look and feel much better. I love the energy level that I have and how much healthier I feel.
